In a meeting with a local IT Leader this week, I asked how our Account Executive was handling the Anchor Point/Client partnership. His response was, “He is enthusiastically consistent.” As a fella that has worn both Recruiting and Sales hats (still wear the Sales hat), I enjoyed this term greatly. I would be proud to have had myself described as such.
Technical Recruiting/Staffing is a crowded field with many poor practitioners. It is a Candidate's market more than I have seen in my eight years in the business. With these two points intersecting, you have to stand out (to both client and candidate alike), and the best way to do this is to be “enthusiastically consistent.”
Enthusiastic = bring a passion for your craft that is so sincere, it shines through. Approach your recruiting effort (or sales hunt) with zest and energy. The robo-recruiter days are gone. Good candidates are getting way too much contact for this. Let your enthusiasm shine in every candidate or customer interaction and good things will come from it.
Consistent = just that. Being consistent. Doing what you say you are going to do, when you said you would. Seems like such a novel concept, but in this business, it helps to differentiate. Be consistent with your check-ins, your communication, your follow-through, your everything. There is a fine line between consistent and persistent…one that towed correctly, can yield results. There could be a whole other blog post on persistence, for now, let’s stick with the consistency that Anchor Point can help bring to you.
