This week I've been reminded of what my role as a professional recruiter truly is through several conversations with coworkers, hiring decision makers, and candidates. Many of the topics of discussion we have in this business are centered around a common theme, just voiced in a different way depending on the audience. But when you strip it down and get to the heart of the matter, it comes back to one word for me, relationships.
As recruiters, we all have the goal of putting someone to work in that perfect position for them. The organizations we work with strive to find the top talent available in the marketplace to set themselves apart. As we bring those sides together, sometimes it's easy to forget the best way to forge that ideal marriage of skillset and talent with the company that values them.
In this day of digital and social media, recruiting job boards and all the other non-personal forums out there to search and be searched...it's worth taking the time to remember that through relationships you can build your marketability as a candidate, we as recruiters can understand and know exactly what is a fit for you through the relationships we build. We pride ourselves on the relationships we have with our clients and the value that it brings by allowing us to fully understand their needs and their culture and how we can deliver the perfect candidate through that process.
So as I was reminded this week, when you get overwhelmed scrolling down page after page of jobs that may or may not be a fit and you may or may not actually ever get to talk to someone about it...remember that some of us still have your career's best interest at heart and we want to get you that perfect position, by knowing exactly what you're looking for because of the relationship that we have built.
