You've successfully managed to climb the first few rungs of the corporate ladder. You've fine-tuned your skills and have mastered your craft. Being an exemplary employee, you've exhibited every bit of professionalism and have given your best, so what is the next move? Perhaps you are seeking a new challenge, increased skillset or maybe a new environment? Either way, change can be intimidating. Even in today's hard economic times, most individuals want to align their professional goals with their personal goals, but that can prove to be a challenging task.
As the first half of the year passes, you may take a moment and reflect on your successes and your obstacles thus far. What compels you to be successful? What motivates you and provides you enjoyment? Look at those things objectively and set yourself on a career path for success.
There are many career planning processes, but most are aligned with four common steps:
Step 1: Knowing Yourself - Think about where you are, where you want to be and how to get there.
Step 2: Finding Out- Knowledge is power. Get informed and don't be afraid to venture into new territory.
Step 3: Making Decisions- There are many roads to choose from, narrow down based on your goals.
Step 4: Taking Action- You have your map in hand, it's time to make that first step and commit.
Without risk, there is no reward. Being a new recruiter has been a different type of change for me. Having successfully demonstrated my skills and abilities in the world of management, I stepped into a different role that would afford me greater opportunity, balance, and strong sense of satisfaction with a diverse and dynamic team. In my brief time with Anchor Point, they have demonstrated their commitment to success with every person that they touch.
